Unique Cultural Relic Treasures
The Standing Bronze Figure: Unearthed from Sacrificial Pit No. 2 of Sanxingdui in 1986, it has an overall height of 262 centimeters. The figure features an exaggerated and abstract 造型,with thick eyebrows and big eyes, a straight nose, and a square chin. It wears a high crown in the shape of a lotus flower, a magnificent outer garment, and stands barefoot on a square base in the shape of an overturned bucket. Its identity remains a mystery. Some experts speculate that it is the chief of a group of wizards, while others believe it is a king.

The Bronze Mask with Protruding Eyes: It is the most representative among the numerous unearthed masks. It is 66 centimeters high, 138 centimeters long, 85 centimeters wide, and weighs 71.1 kilograms. The pupils of its eyes are in the shape of columns, protruding 16 centimeters. Its ears stretch fully to both sides, it has a short nose bridge, and the mouth slit is long, deep, and upward-curved. Many experts speculate that it may be the statue of Can Cong, the ancient king of Shu.

The Bronze Sacred Tree: The remaining height of the trunk of Bronze Sacred Tree No. 1 is 3.59 meters, and the overall height is 3.96 meters. It is composed of three parts: the base, the tree, and the dragon. It is the largest bronze cultural relic in terms of shape that has been discovered in China so far. The branches of the sacred tree are divided into three layers, with three branches on each layer. There are a total of nine birds on the whole tree, and there is also a dragon descending along the side of the main trunk. Experts speculate that it should be a composite "product" of the legendary sacred trees such as Fusang and Jianmu, and one of its main functions is to "reach the sky".

The Golden Scepter: With a total length of 1.42 meters, it is the largest gold artifact among the cultural relics of the same period in China. It is made by hammering gold bars into gold sheets and then wrapping them around a wooden scepter. There are patterns such as human head portraits, birds, and fish, which are about 46 centimeters long, at one end of the golden scepter. Its meaning has not been definitively concluded. Some viewpoints believe that it reflects the formation of the Yufu Dynasty, and some scholars speculate that the cultural elements of the golden scepter originated from the civilizations of Western Asia and the Near East.

Mysterious Sacrificial Culture
Sacrificial Pits: Several sacrificial pits have been discovered in Sanxingdui, and a large number of exquisite cultural relics have been unearthed. The chronological span, distribution rules of these sacrificial pits, as well as the combination methods of the cultural relics in them, are all important clues for studying the sacrificial behaviors and religious beliefs of the ancient Shu people.
Sacrificial Rituals: Judging from the unearthed cultural relics, it can be speculated that the ancient Shu people may have chopped, burned, and buried the sacrificial offerings during the sacrificial rituals. For example, a large number of burned ivory tusks have been discovered, and the Bronze Sacrificial Altar vividly reproduces the sacrificial scenes of the ancient Shu people, reflecting the sacrificial etiquette and social structure at that time.
Exploration of the Ancient City Ruins
The City Wall and the Layout of the City: The city wall of the ancient city of Sanxingdui has changed from the original five sections to seven sections, and the outer city is becoming more complete. The city is trapezoidal in shape, covering an area of about 3.5 square kilometers, making it the largest city in the south of the same era. The architectural structure and construction technology of its city wall, as well as the overall layout of the city, reflect the urban planning and defense system at that time.
Architectural Remains: The largest single building of the Shang Dynasty discovered in the ruins is suspected to have a double-layer structure. A wooden plank "road" has been excavated under the ancient river channel, which is suspected to be a wharf. These architectural remains provide important evidence for studying the lifestyle, economic activities, and social division of labor of the ancient Shu people.
Exquisite Craftsmanship Techniques
Bronze Casting Technology: The bronze cultural relics of Sanxingdui have complex shapes and exquisite craftsmanship. For example, the Bronze Sacred Tree and the Standing Bronze Figure, etc. In an era without welding torches, complex techniques such as welding, linking, riveting, and socket jointing were used, reflecting the superb bronze casting level of the ancient Shu people.
Gold Processing Technology: The unearthed gold artifacts such as the gold masks and the golden scepter show the superb skills of the ancient Shu people in gold processing. For example, the production of the gold mask requires multiple processes such as hammering, cutting, and polishing. Half of a gold mask weighs about 280 grams, and it is speculated that the complete weight should exceed 500 grams.
